Mango-Banana-Pineapple Smoothie with Maca

E: I highly recommend this smoothie. The burst of tropical fruit early in the morning really wakes you up and encourages you to start your day. Plus, it’s fully loaded with fiber, minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, etc. You will not be disappointed.

Research has shown that mango has antioxidant compounds which have been found to protect against colon, breast, leukemia and prostate cancers. Pineapple is good because it has a lot of fiber. A diet high in fiber helps reduce risk of constipation, heart disease, and possibly cancer. Plus the  fiber keeps you full and can help you lose weight. Bananas have high potassium content and they are an essential mineral for maintaining normal blood pressure and heart function.

The boost of maca powder is also a wonderful added bonus for your body. Maca is a plant that grows in central Peru in the high plateaus of the Andes Mountains. Maca root is used to make medicine and it has a sweet butterscotch smell and taste. Maca powder is good for enhancing energy, stamina, athletic performance, memory, and fertility. Women use maca for female hormone imbalance, menstrual problems, and symptoms of menopause. Maca powder is also used to treat weak bones such as osteoporosis and other illnesses such as depression, stomach cancer, leukemia, ED, or to arouse sexual desire and to boost the immune system. It’s a superfood!

Also I used Greek yogurt and soy milk for this recipe but feel free to use different type of milk and to eliminate the Greek yogurt if you want to make this a vegan/vegetarian recipe. I know you will like it so go on and give it a try.


1 cup pineapple

½ mango

½ banana

1 cup soymilk

2 tablespoons nonfat plain Greek yogurt

¼ cup ice cubes

1 tablespoon maca powder


Combine all ingredients until smooth.
